FAQs

How does Quantexa work alongside the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP)?

Quantexa complements and enhances the FDP by acting as an intelligent integration layer. While the FDP consolidates core operational data, Quantexa connects it with vital GP data, third-party sources, and the wider determinants of health (such as housing, education, and social care). By resolving these fragmented records into a single, trusted view, we enable Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) to drive advanced population health management and design proactive, targeted neighbourhood care pathways.

Is Quantexa's platform UK-hosted, and does NHS data ever leave NHS control?

Yes. Quantexa is a UK-headquartered company, and our platform is built for absolute data sovereignty. The platform is deployed entirely inside the NHS’s secure hosting environment (on-premises or NHS-approved cloud), meaning the NHS remains the sole Data Controller. Patient data never leaves NHS infrastructure or control.

Does adopting Quantexa mean replacing or ripping out existing NHS systems?

No. Quantexa is designed to complement, not replace, your existing technology. It acts as a non-disruptive layer that sits on top of your legacy databases, Electronic Patient Records (EPR), and IT systems, connecting your data silos via open APIs without interrupting clinical and operational workflows.

Do we need to purchase the entire Quantexa platform, or can we get specific modules to integrate with our existing technology?

No, you do not need to purchase the entire platform. Quantexa is built on an open, modular, and composable architecture. You can selectively deploy individual capabilities such as Entity Resolution, Graph Generation, or specific Analytics modules to augment and leverage your existing technology investments. Our "open architecture" approach means these modules act as plug-and-play services. They integrate seamlessly with your existing Master Data Management (MDM) software, data warehouses, or modern lakehouse platforms (like Databricks or Snowflake), delivering high-quality resolved data directly to your downstream systems via REST APIs, batch exports, or real-time streaming.

How does Quantexa’s Entity Resolution differ from traditional healthcare integration tools?

Traditional tools focus on consolidating data into a centralised repository without addressing the underlying data quality, duplication, or gaps. Quantexa’s advanced Entity Resolution (ER) goes further by using contextual, network-based matching to accurately link and cleanse poor-quality records and resolve complex relationships (such as households). Crucially, it complements and enhances existing IT infrastructure rather than requiring a costly "rip-and-replace" project.

How does a Single Patient View (Citizen 360) support clinical decision-making?

A Single Patient View unifies fragmented, siloed data from multiple systems into a real-time, 360-degree patient timeline. This gives clinicians and care teams a comprehensive, trusted history of patient interactions, reducing the time spent searching for information and providing the accurate context needed to make safer, faster care decisions.

Can the platform handle unstructured data, like clinical letters and medical notes?

Yes. Quantexa’s platform is built to ingest and analyse both structured and unstructured data sources, including clinical documents, discharge summaries, and medical reports. This ensures that vital clinical context hidden within text-based documents is accurately extracted, resolved, and linked back to the patient record to build a holistic overview of the care journey.

How does Quantexa ensure data governance and compliance within healthcare?

Data privacy, ethical AI, and rigorous governance are at the heart of our platform. We collaborate closely with the NHS and government partners to ensure compliance with strict security and transparency standards. Our technology enables explainable, secure data sharing between organisations, ensuring that care teams can collaborate confidently without compromising patient privacy or data sovereignty.
